At last we have started to have some movement on the plot. John-paul and his friend accended into the poly tunnel today and gave it the once over, clearing out everything that had been growing there.
As from next week we will be at the plot to position our first bed, we can then transfer our garlic and onions into this bed and leave them there until harvesting. For the poly tunnel we want to start with some indoor salad crops to boost our table supply over the winter, as most supermarket produce is seriously expensive at that time of year.
Another job in the tunnel is pot on the strawberry plants we bought earlier in the season, these will be grown in guttering suspended high in the tunnel to allow the strawberries to hang free from the ground.
The trials we are going to set ourselves will begin shortly, we have a few bags of Bio Terra+ compost to start us off, but we await for the rest of it to arrive before we can begin filling the 5 largish beds.
I will be trialing bio terra against other leading brands of compost with ‘Off the shelf’ garden products in a like for like situation, and the honest news will be hear for all to see as it happens, so stay tuned for the next season.
